I grew up in a family of six, in a small town in Northern British Columbia, Canada. My parents were wilderness guides so I was extremely fortunate to experience the outdoors extensively, at a very young age. Our summers were spent hiking mountains, canoeing rivers and lakes, and exploring the backcountry. When we weren’t guiding, we were hunting and fishing. It was all I ever knew and I developed a deep love for nature which has served me well growing up. I have always been very active and developed a passion for fitness at a young age. I was only 16 when I bought my first fitness magazine, and spent my lunch hours in high school playing around in the weight room. I was hooked. Several years later, I got into boxing and martial arts. I spend all my spare time either in the gym lifting weights or training for competitions in martial arts.I have two boys who I am incredibly proud of who have followed in my footsteps with their love for lifting and boxing. I have trained them from the age they were old enough to fit into a pair of boxing gloves! I then got into coaching Lacrosse with my youngest son and started to run Lacrosse training camps with some of the players who wanted to improve their game. I discovered I loved coaching and it was so rewarding watching the improvements and growth they were making. After years of competing and training in martial arts, which saw me winning the Western Canadian Martial Arts Championships, Qualifying for Team Canada to compete in the World Martial Arts Championships in Austria, and then signing a pro contract in MMA with Super Fight League out of Mumbai (to which I was never able to compete due to political red tape), I shifted my focus back to lifting heavy in the gym and preparing for my first competition in bodybuilding. I have never been one to train for the fun of it, I thrive on setting goals for myself and working hard to achieve them. In 2018, after qualifying at local, regional, and provincial competitions, I competed in the Open and Masters Physique Nationals and became the first Canadian to win two Pro Cards. I worked incredibly hard for this….during my prep I was travelling the country for work, and then 4 weeks out of competing, I was in a remote location, in the wilderness, completing my two-week, gruelling certification to become an IKO Kiteboarding Instructor. While most people were at home training, eating, sleeping, and focusing on prep, I was studying all day, training in my campsite with limited weights, in the pouring rain, meal prepping in a tent, and running a remote logging road for an hour every morning before class at 5 am. It was rough, but I wanted it badly and was not going to let anything stand in my way. I am proud of my ability to push through and it paid off. In 2022, I married my best friend and training partner of 12 years, who has stood by my side and supported me through all the ups and downs of my fitness journey.
I started working with women several years ago and discovered that surprisingly, I got the most satisfaction and enjoyment from working with women and lifting them up, supporting them to be stronger and get fit, and watching their whole life change as they gained newfound confidence, learned to love their body and develop healthy habits and skills to be successful long term. I started running bootcamps and before long, moved my business online to expand my reach and allow me to help more women.
My husband and I continue to run bootcamps together and will be moving these online as well. I pride myself in working with middle-aged women who want support and guidance to help them reach their dream bodies. It is my passion and I am so excited to continue this journey and help more women.
